Over the Horizon Brewing

Over the Horizon Brewing is the newest brewery on the upper peninsula, holding its grand opening in late August 2024 on Heriot Street in downtown Charleston, in the space formerly occupied by Brewlab. It's a veteran-owned operation founded by three Citadel graduates.

The brewery's mission goes beyond beer. It partners with the Department of Defense SkillBridge program, which helps service members transition into civilian careers, and a wall inside is set aside for veterans to display medals and accomplishments. The result is a community-minded, family-friendly gathering place rooted in Charleston's military ties.

On tap you'll find a rotating lineup that leans into hazy IPAs, lagers, and saisons. The food program centers on tacos, burritos, and nachos and Gustard's Custards operates next door for dessert.

The taproom includes a game room and a patio with an outdoor stage for live music. Family, and dog-friendly, it joins the cluster of upper-peninsula taprooms within a short ride or walk of the historic district, making it a fresh stop on any downtown Charleston brewery crawl.
