Breweries on Daniel Island & Cainhoy, SC

2 breweries in Daniel Island

Daniel Island sits between the Cooper and Wando rivers on the north side of Charleston Harbor, a planned community with a walkable town center, waterfront parks, and quick access to both downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant. Just across the Wando toward Cainhoy, the landscape opens into marsh and pine. Between them, this corner of the Charleston area has two breweries that could not be more different in scale.

New Realm Brewing Co. anchors Daniel Island from an 11,000-square-foot space on Island Park Drive, the Charleston location of a multi-state brewery founded in 2016. It is built for a full outing rather than a quick pint: a large open taproom, a big outdoor area, and a scratch kitchen turning out wood-fired pizza, Wagyu burgers, wings, and fresh fish. Kids are welcome, leashed dogs are welcome outside, and there is street and lot parking on Island Park Drive.

Indigo Reef Brewing Co., on Wambaw Creek Road in the Cainhoy area, is the neighborhood-scale counterpart. The name nods to diving, Charleston, and beer, and the taproom pours 14 to 17 or more beers brewed on site, including a stout that won gold at the 2025 World Beer Cup, plus wine and cider. Food comes from the in-house Cachita's Kitchen with sliders, nachos, and burgers. The courtyard and covered outdoor areas are roomy and family-friendly, well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome outside, and parking is ample.

If you are staying on Daniel Island or heading to the airport, either brewery is an easy stop, and the two are close enough to pair in one afternoon. Mount Pleasant's three breweries are the next closest cluster, a short drive east on Interstate 526.
