North Charleston · North Charleston, SC
Holy City Brewing is one of North Charleston's largest and most established craft breweries, anchoring the Park Circle beer scene from a creekside campus on Aragon Avenue. The brewhouse, taproom, and kitchen sit on roughly four and a half acres along Noisette Creek, with room to spread out across indoor spaces and a marshside yard.
The brewery traces its start to 2011, when four friends began making beer on a small pilot system in a pedicab garage. It has since grown into a regional name that distributes across the Carolinas and Georgia while keeping its home base firmly in North Charleston. The constantly rotating tap list spans a wide range of styles, including the well-known Pluff Mud Porter, named for the Lowcountry's marsh mud, and crowd-favorite IPAs and sours.
Food is a real part of the draw here. A scratch kitchen runs daily, and you'll find an in-house raw bar called The Walrus open Wednesday through Saturday, serving oysters on the half shell, peel-and-eat shrimp, and ceviche alongside burgers, wings, and other from-scratch plates. A seasonal ice cream truck rounds out the family-friendly setup.
With multiple event spaces, a courtyard, live music, and trivia nights, Holy City functions as much as a neighborhood gathering spot as a production brewery. The kid-friendly outdoor area and creek views make it a popular stop on any North Charleston brewery crawl, and it is among the few local breweries open seven days a week.
