Edisto River Brewing Company

Edisto River Brewing Company brought craft beer to Main Road on Johns Island in 2019. The locally owned brewery took over a former auto paint-and-body shop, converting the roughly 30-year-old building into a taproom with a bar, a game area, and an outdoor beer garden. The team calls it the friendliest brewery in Charleston, and the laid-back, welcoming feel backs that up.

The brewery is best known as the home of the original "Blushys", beer slushies that blend their hefeweizen with frozen fruit flavors like pineapple and coconut for a frozen, warm-weather drink. Beyond the slushies, the lineup spans house-brewed beers and meads, including a mead made with wildflower honey sourced from along the Edisto River that gives the brewery its name.

Food comes from a rotating food truck on-site rather than an in-house kitchen, so the menu changes depending on who's parked outside. The space is family-friendly, with the game room and beer garden giving groups room to spread out.
