Wyrd Sisters Taphouse & Brewery opened in the Park Circle area of North Charleston in December 2024, and it holds the distinction of being South Carolina's first majority woman-owned and operated brewery. Its founders, both alumni of another local brewery, set up the nanobrewery inside a converted house on Chateau Avenue, building an intentionally inclusive, come-as-you-are taproom.
The beer is small-batch and culinary-driven, with the head brewer known for funky, ingredient-forward brews that play with spicy, sweet, and savory notes. Rotating releases have included a banana cream pie hefeweizen and offbeat names like Sassy Sasquatch and Mexican Fruit Cup. Alongside the house pours you'll find around a dozen guest drafts and non-alcoholic options.
The interior is compact and themed, leaning witchy and Southern Gothic, but the real outdoor space is the large backyard shaded by live oaks draped in Spanish moss. Without an in-house kitchen, Wyrd Sisters works with rotating food vendor pop-ups to feed guests, so the food lineup changes regularly.
The inside taproom is 21-and-up, while the backyard welcomes both well-behaved leashed dogs and kids, making the outdoor yard the flexible heart of the place. Already drawing recognition among the best newer breweries in South Carolina, Wyrd Sisters has quickly become one of Park Circle's more distinctive spots for experimental, locally brewed beer in a relaxed neighborhood setting.
