Westbrook Brewing Company

Westbrook Brewing Company, on Ridge Road in Mt Pleasant, is the anchor of the town's craft beer scene and one of the most widely recognized breweries in South Carolina. Founded in 2010, it has grown its reach has grown far beyond the Lowcountry, and the taproom remains the place to drink them closest to the source.

The most sought-after release is Mexican Cake, an imperial stout aged on cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, cinnamon, and habanero peppers that began, fittingly, as a batch brewed for the founder's own wedding. Westbrook also helped popularize the Gose style in the region, and on any given visit you'll find that tart, sessionable classic alongside a deep bench of stouts, hazy and hop-forward IPAs, and Belgian-leaning styles like its lemongrass-and-ginger White Thai witbier.

The taproom pours roughly 22 rotating beers, with bottles, cans, and crowlers available to take home. Seating spans an air-conditioned interior and an outdoor beer garden, so there's room whether you're settling in for a flight or grabbing a quick pour.

Westbrook keeps no in-house kitchen, leaning instead on rotating food trucks and bar snacks to round out a visit. It's a welcoming, family-friendly stop, and an easy first or last call on a Mount Pleasant brewery afternoon before crossing back over the Ravenel Bridge to Charleston. Well behaved dogs are welcome to enjoy the outdoor beer garden.
